The EACB is pleased to announce
Apropos Coop Banking
Toward a More Inclusive And Resilient World:
Cooperative Banking for Society and Communities
29 June 2023 from 14.30 to 16.00h CEST
Online webinar
On the margins of the 2023 International Day of Cooperatives themed "Cooperatives: partners for accelerated sustainable development" on 1 July, the EACB is organising an event to substantiate the societal impact of cooperative banks, emphasising their benefits to regions and communities.
The event will commence with the presentation of the new mini-study “An inventory of cooperative benefits of European cooperative banks” by Prof. Groeneveld. The paper is based on a survey among EACB member banks, and summarises the advantages provided by cooperative banks to members, local communities and society at large.
A group of high-level panellists — including José Manuel Fernandes MEP, Member of the European Parliament, EPP Group, Portugal, Miia Rossi-Gray, Policy Officer at the European Commission, DG Employment and Social Inclusion, Rainer Borns, Finance Director at Volksbank Wien, Prof. Hans Groeneveld, Tilburg University and Prof. Cristina Peicuti, ESCP Business School and economist at BPCE — will then delve deeper into the matter under the theme "How do cooperative banks contribute toward a more inclusive and resilient world". They will foster the debate on the topic in the context of sustainable development and SDGs, EU regulation and new emerging trends in the banking sector.
