The European Association of Cooperative Banks welcomes the initiative to develop a single and simplified guidance on the application of the DNSH principle under the 2028–2034 Multiannual Financial Framework. Cooperative banks are deeply rooted in local and regional economies and play a key role in financing SMEs, green transition, social infrastructure and households. Ensuring that EU funding effectively supports environmental objectives while remaining accessible to relevant actors is therefore of central importance.
