Credit Agricole launches responsible PEFC certified check
Largest banking network in France, Crédit Agricole propose to its customers, starting from January 2016, a new checkbook from sustainably managed forests. All checks will be printed on paper certified PEFC1. By choosing certified checks, Credit Agricole reaffirmed its commitment to sustainable forest management, and meets the expectations of its customers ; nearly a quart2 of them wish to have a checkbook environmentally.
Stanislas Pottier, Director of Sustainable Development at Crédit Agricole SA "Crédit Agricole was the first bank to launch two years ago environment3 credit card and enroll in a recycling process credit cards. Today, it offers its customers the check printed on PEFC certified paper. A major issue since the responsible management of forests is an important tool in the fight against climate change."
Marc-Antoine de Sèze, Chairman of PEFC France : "We can only welcome this initiative of Crédit Agricole, which allows for a daily gesture a virtuous act. We are convinced that by choosing a certified product, everyone can contribute to protecting the environment. ".
Affixed to any product based on wood , PEFC label provides assurance to consumers that the product they are buying comes from responsible sources. PEFC is a response to the expectations of the general public responsible consumption, businesses and communities. The Crédit Agricole customers will thus have a more virtuous means of payment for the environment.
The check, some key figures :
- The check is the fourth most used means of payment in France
- 71% of checks issued in the EU are issued in France,
- in 2013, each French used an average of 37 checks.
- In 2015, Crédit Agricole has issued 23.4 million checkbooks ; about 1 400 tons of paper.
