BCC AND FINANCIAL EDUCATION
The GCC has developed various initiatives on financial education, which are aimed, on the one hand, the school community, and, additionally, the co-operative sector.
School community: Children and adolescents are facing increasingly younger financial decisions and in many cases do not have adequate training to make them effectively. The Grupo Cooperativo Cajamar contributes to the promotion of the financial education of youth through two lines of action:
- “Finanzas que te hacen crecer” (“Finances that make you grow”, in English) is a financial education program of Grupo Cooperativo Cajamar in collaboration with schools throughout Spain. This program is aimed at students between 13 and 15 years. This program includes general aspects of the economy, the basic economic and financial processes and their impact on daily life. The workshops are led by a group of volunteers who are workers in the GCC and belong to the corporate volunteer program.
- “Tus finanzas, tu future” ("Your finances, your future", in English) is another program for financial education. The Grupo Cooperativo Cajamar is working with the Asociación Española de Banca (Spanish Banking Association, in English) and the NGO Junior Achievemet Foundation. This is an initiative that also promotes the financial education of young Spaniards between 13 and 15 years.
Co-operative sector: The Escuela de Consejeros Cooperativos (School of Cooperative Directors) has as priority the training of members of the boards of directors of agrifood cooperative enterprises in areas of corporate governance, CSR, strategic planning and financial analysis. Its aim is to contribute to improving the competitiveness of their organizations, the knowledge of finance and the application of the principles of corporate governance.
