Today 2nd of July, the 11th Euricse International Workshop on Cooperative and Responsible Finance for Development takes place. The workshop, organized in collaboration with the Department of Economics and Management of the University of Trento and Federcasse (Italian Federation of Cooperative Credit Banks), with the support of EACB (the European Association of Co-operative Banks), is exceptionally held online due to the Covid-19 crisis.

During this event, many scholars and young researchers from all over the world, are contributing to enrich the debate on the role of cooperative finance in facing the crisis, highlighting the ability of cooperative banks in supporting and boosting local economies. During the session several new researches are being presented, some discussants are also members of the EACB think tank on co-operative banks. Moreover the topics of sustainable development and green finance are discussed together with cooperative banks specialists.
During his presentation on “The EU Sustainable Finance Initiatives and the Green Deal: Cooperative Banks Perspective “ the General Manager of EACB, Hervé Guider, highlighted, “Cooperative banks have to play a special role in the sustainable finance and in the implementation of the EU green deal because of their “societal” model oriented towards the local communities’ development and representing 25% of the European economy. Meanwhile, it is also important for cooperative banks to have a connection with academics and this why we appreciate very much this event".
During the event, The European Association of Co-operative Banks is also announcing its call for papers for the 9th EACB Award for Young Researchers on Co-operative Banks. The competition is targeted at young researchers up to 35 years old. Co-authored papers will be accepted if all authors are up to 35 years of age.
