Today the Supervisory Board of Raiffeisen Bank International AG (RBI) decided that Andreas Gschwenter will become Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Chief Information Officer (CIO) of RBI from 1 July 2015. Gschwenter was born in 1969, has a degree in business administration and has been Head of Operations (COO/CIO) in charge of IT, operations and cost management at Raiffeisen Bank Aval in Ukraine since 2010. His appointment is subject to approval by the Austrian Financial Market Authority.
“My colleagues at RBI’s Managing Board and I are delighted that Andreas Gschwenter will strengthen our team. He is not only an excellent IT and operations expert, but also very familiar with the group's processes and tasks due to his years of experience with Raiffeisen Bank Aval”, said RBI’s CEO Karl Sevelda.
Gschwenter became an expert in the fields of IT and Operations, among others, in various positions at Bank Austria Creditanstalt and HVB in Romania, Serbia and, most recently, prior to joining Raiffeisen Bank Aval, as a Member of the Managing Board at UniCredit Bank Russia. In his new role, Gschwenter should achieve synergies and realize cost savings potentials. His task includes the improvement of the RBI Group’s cost structure, further advancing the harmonization of all IT systems implemented in the group as well as optimizations in the areas of operations, processes and cost management.
“I am very much looking forward to this new task. RBI has a successful business model and is an important provider of financial services and products in Austria and CEE. I am very much attached to this bank emotionally and intend to bring in the experience gained in recent years to make it even more successful”, Andreas Gschwenter said.
Andreas Gschwenter follows Aris Bogdaneris, who left the bank in March. Klemens Breuer took over the responsibility for “Retail banking” from Aris Bogdaneris in addition to his responsibility for “Markets” and will continue to do so.
