The European Association of Co-operative Banks (EACB) warmly welcomes the Commissions’ intentions to simplify the EU’s legislative framework and to put the EU’s competitiveness in a global context at the centre of its policy making. What is missing in the present discussions around simplification and competitiveness, however, is a reflection on what this should mean for the legislative proposals initiated under the previous Commission. They were not developed with the simplification or competitiveness agenda in mind. The framework for Financial Data Access (FiDA) is a point in case. Please read enclosed the EACBs proposals for adjustments that would make FiDA pass the simplification and competitiveness test.
