There have been numerous studies on the effects of the new Basle III capital regulations on banks. The main focus of these studies have been the large banks leaving small banks and especially cooperative banks unconsidered.
This working paper analyses the impact of the Basle III capital regulations on German cooperative banks. The paper provides a differentiated view on larger and smaller cooperative banks with respect to their amount and the quality of their capital. It is shown which banks have already fulfill the new regulations and which banks have to add capital.
