We publish today the 2012 Annual Report of the European Association of Co-operative Banks which voices the concerns of 4.000 banks in Europe operating under the co-operative statute. 2012 was an important year for co-operative banks, as it was declared by the United Nations the International Year of Co-operatives. Moreover it was a very intense year due to the deep regulatory reforms implemented as a response to the crisis at EU level. The Report mirrors those intense developments and offers an overview of our selected achievements. In particular, it highlights:
- the co-operative banks’ resilience during the crisis (confronted by tighter banking regulation and supervision)
- new developments affecting retail banking and consumer issues
- co-operative banks as socially responsible banks.
- new initiatives in the field of research and communication to raise awareness on our sector
